87 SI problem
hey i havent driven my 87 for a while, well its now in the paper for sale and some guy came to buy it with cash in hand and it wouldnt ******* start, it seems to be getting power, i think something is up with the gas. As soon as the key is turned, the engine turns over and the RPM goes up to like 1500 then it drops really quickly and the car shuts off, i tried like for 2 minutes straight and the same thing happened over and over again.
My dad is the last one to have driven it and although the first gens dont have a "check engine" light, he says that the PGM-FI light has come on and he has had problems starting it before, but never like this.
Anyone have any suggestions what to look for, I need to fix quickly cause all these people are calling to come and look at it and it wont even start now.

Fresh gas and check the fuel pump. The PGM-FI light will go out once the fuel system is pressurized, if it doesn't go out, your fuel pump isn't doing it's job.
check the fuel filter, i had a 87 si that kept doing that. would start and catch, but will die immediately. push the gas down and it won't help. replaced the fuel filter and bingo.
