5th gen water in trunk
any other 5th gen owners notice water in their trunks after it rains? ive had mine for about a month and a half, and i still cant figure out what is causing the leak...and i think it might be a common problem, because the first prelude i looked at buying had water in the trunk when i went to go take a look at it
i have never had any water get into my trunk when it rains. i have never had this problem with any honda i have ever owned either. i would check all the weather strips that line the trunk, you probably have some kind of leak up by the rear windshield or something.
There are 2 drain plugs in the trunk that you can take out. Just open your trunk, pull the mat up, and you'll see to black rubber plugs. Take those out, and you'll never have water in your trunk again

I had the same problem. I put some tape there for alittle while
it sloved the problem. If you want to be safe i would check the gasket behind the light, most likely thats shot. I actually siliconed the tailight also just in case the water was getting in there. If you do those two things and u still get water i would check the rubber lining around the trunk, where the trunk lid closes onto.

I had a leak in my 5th gen when I first got it too. I did the same thing. Silicone around the whole rubber lining. Haven't had a problem with it since.

Same EXACT problem here. I pulled my tail-lights this weekend and cleaned the gaskets (which were full of dirt, etc). I didn't have any silicone so I just popped em back on there and hoped for the best... Which hasn't worked lol. I have moisture in my left tail light again
.
Is there a write-up anywhere about how to reseal the actual tail light? Where can I get new gaskets at & what type of silicone is needed (names)?

dude common problem with honda's! I also had a water problem in my teg.
Changed the gasket on the tail light but that didn't help, check the weather strips to see if it came loose.

my 4th gen is leaking from there
it's cracked through the metal a good 6 inches. on the other side where the water drain path is there is a crack and it gets in through there too. I think because the car had been rear ended and fixed up again and they probably missed those. i'm just going to put some 2 part epoxy on them or silicone sealer. I'm eventually going to have it welded up and properly fixed, but i'll wait until winter when I stop driving the lude. too bad my **** leaks because i just bought some nice elemental designs subs and amp and am NOT risking frying my amp from a leaky trunk.. check all those areas after you spray some water on you trunk. it'll help you pinpoint your leak at least
i wonder if any of you noticed that when the trunk is filled with water so are the backseats....................................
or maybe that was just mine...........
anyone encounter that?
oh yeah i solved my trunk leak problem with sealant from kragen at every crack.............................
but uhh it still flows to my backseats.

Haven't noticed a wet backseat, however I do also have water in the trunk well/spare tire area. I flipped the drain plugs so I can access them from the outside (system in the trunk). After it rains, just pop the plugs off, drain, then re-plug.
I guess I should give the tailight seals a check.
