1996 Integra Gs-r horsepower
I have a 96 GS-R with 125,000 miles on it. I have dc headers, 2 1/2 inch piping, magnaflow cat, and a cold air intake. How much hp am I looking at right now? I really want to get it up to 200hp eventually. I am looking at the hondata s200. Any comments would help...thanks.

yes a gs-r has 170hp but you dont actually get all of it to the wheels, thats why he said 155. Hondata s200 is a control system, so any bolt ons or other modifications should be done before you do the tunning with the s200. if you do the s200 now and do more later you wont get all of the performance out of it. good luck

170 is the horsepower the gs-r has at the crank, but through the drivetrain it loses some.
If I were you Id buy a couple more things before I got the s200, the gains from it after more mods will be far greater than the gains youll get now.
You need to think about what kinds of horsepower goals you want to reach.
If you want around 200 to the wheels, you could get a basic small bolt on turbo kit, maybe something like a greddy, just because its easy, and doesnt provide an overwhelming amount of horsepower. After that, you could get the hondata, turn up the boost, and tune it to have more hp, but it all depends on what you want.

I am looking for about 200whp. Do I need to do some internal stuff before I turbo it? Like new pistons and rods and stuff? Also, it turbo the only option? obviously you know what you are talking about and I don't so any help is great. If I did get a turbo what do you mean when you say small basic turbo kit? How much am I looking at $ wise? Thanks.

You could go naturally aspired, but its more expensive, and youll have to build the engine because youll need to get new cams and higher compression pistons and all of that stuff, and it would be more expensive for your power goals than a basic turbo kit
200 whp on a gsr is fine, you really wont need any internals. A small basic turbo kit is a cheaper turbo kit thats still reliable and built well, that comes with all the necessities you need.
a greddy kit is about 2300 or so, offered from one of our sponsors here, and it should give you somewhere around 200whp, give or take, and although it doesnt come with a blowoff valve, or front mount intercooler, it doesnt sound like you need them anyway, and if you do, you could upgrade them later. and you really dont have to have a really good engine management system, because its such a small setup, and comes with the bluebox, or e-manage for engine management.
on the other hand, drag makes a turbo kit thats closer to 2700 and it has a bigger turbo, so you could get closer to 300whp which is still okay for your stock engine with a GOOD tune, but its more of a complete kit, it includes the blowoff valve and front mount intercooler. But youll really need engine management and a good tune, so honadata s200 would be extremely benefitial.
there are also a lot of other brands of turbo kits, but the two I named are 2 of the least expensive.

And all I put down was 144 whp. So I dont think your .2 extra displacement is gonna do that much more.

But just go turbo. for the same price, you can have 250whp!

yes u are loosing some at your cat because it was designed to restrict ozone depleting stuff, so it will also hold back some exhaust flow. you can get test pipes which will make it much louder put add some hp

Hi I have a 96 gsr stock except skunk 2 coil overs I'm new to the Honda game I would like to build my car patiently with that being said I dont know where to start any advice would be appreciated thanks
