Mugen Group A pistons for B16A - DANG!





Sorry if i seem excited, just never seen a photo of these before, only heard about them.

Plus I've drank 1.5litres of Chinese green tea, so I'm a bit hyper

 

hmm kinda looks like ctr pistons or something

looks so oem

 

It only has one ring, interesting.

Did'nt Mugen manufacter B-series forged piston rods at one time also? I could have sworn I saw a pic of it once, with the word "Mugen" on it

Edit: btw, whats different about these pistons compared to B16A or even CTR?

 

did anybody ask epgonzales? i wouldnt be surprised if he was already running a variant of these for the itr

Yea, I wish I had better pics (they're not mine); but they look to me like they were designed to reduce friction as much as possible. Supposed to be used in conjunction with Mugen Group A cams.

 

looks like oem pistons with different machining. and..its casted..

 

They also have circlip grooves for full floating wrist pins. The single ring groove is a cool trick for a race car I guess, but I certainly wouldn't use it on a street car. They don't look like OEM pistons to me...

Are the intake valve relief's oversized?

 

They look a whole lot like pct pistons to me.

 

Aren't there two rings in the pic on that piston?

 

Yeah, if you count the oil ring. I only see one compression ring.
