stock deck and amp install questions???
hey - im going to hook up a sub to my 98 civic hatch with stock deck - here are my questions.... how long does my power cable have to be??? what gauge do i use??? and does it sound good after hooking it all up??? - i know have to get the speical rca thing - by the way its rockford in a bandpass and will be running 250watts
the length of wire depends where it goes in the car but no more than 17 ft and gauge I wouldnt recomend less than 8ga but how big is the amp 250 wats like the spk. or bigger and are you going to add any amps later on. rockford in a band pass will sound good but you want to ditch that factory radio soon factory radios have a feture called bass contouring (i cant spell) what it does is as you turn the volume up the radio turns the bass down so you dont blow your factory spks.
so adding a sub on a factory radio it wont sound as good as a aftermarket.
hope this helped

well wiring is a main key in how ur system sounds. i recomend having a professional do the wiring but if u want i can help u out. jus im me at yourag7 or gimme an email about wat u have and need to wire. i'll be glad to help u
wiring is simple if you are just installing an amp. The hardest is running the wires, not wiring it. There is no need to pay someone 50-100+ to install an amp.
If you are using a stock deck, you will most likely need a line out converter. This is because you stock deck has no RCA pre-outs. All you do is take a set of your speaker wires and connect it to the line converter. The output for it is where you connect your RCAs. From there, you go to your amp. Simple, especially if you use your rear deck speakers.
Good Luck
