Help, CTR pistons, 3 are HF1 and 1 HF2. weight diference !!!
Help, CTR pistons, 3 are HF1 and 1 HF2.
I found out today that one is diferent from the other 3.
The only diferençe bettwen them is the weight, only 1.1 gr, 0.0011 Kg, wich is very little.
The Stock P73 pistons that came out from my B18C6 are HF1.
Do you think, this little weight diference will damage anything or unbalance my engine ?
Where should i put it, in the 2nd cilinder ?
Thanks in advance.

Get them balanced (this means get them to weigh the same). Drill some material out form inside the piston. A good machine shop should be able to do it for you if you can't.
Shave? I've always seen shops just put the piston upside down on a drill press with like a 1/2" drill bit and take some material out. By shaving, you mean like with a milling machine?
The HF1 CTR piston has 374.5 gr and the HF2 have 373.4 gr. It´s a 1.1 gr diference.
Should i really put them all 373.4 gr ?
Should i really care with this ?
I tested them on the cilinder, both, and they fit fine.
My Honda mechanic isn´t very happy on this !!!
Do you think that HF1 or HF2 is a diferençe on the year made or something ?
Thanks,
Pinota

Nop, they´re all PCTX pistons, wich means they´re from the CTR, but 3 are HF1 and 1 is HF2.
I´m sure about this.
What do you mean less than 0.1 gram ????

What is the diff. in weight between the 3 CTR HF1 pistons? And between the 4 ITR HF1 pistons? And between the CTR HF1 and ITR HF1 pistons?
The weight on the 3 HF1 CTR pistons are the same, 374.5 gr, the other one is HF2 and it´s 373.4 gr, 1.1 gr less tahn the other 3, ok ?
I don´t know the wight of the P73 11.1 ITR pistons, they´re at my Honda dealer.
I´ve tested them all in the cilinder and they all fit ok.
More thoughts about this ?
Thanks,

Yes, they all look the same.
I´ll ask my mechanic if he can get them balanced, if not i´ll let them stay like that.
