How to change tranny fluid in the MDX
For those of you that don't know or haven't attempted to change your tranny fluid but want to, here is a how to. It's VERY simple
Basically, it is a basic drain and refill.
The drain plug is right under the front of the truck. When looking under the truck there is one bolt that has a square head that a 3/8” rachet will fit into. Remove that bolt and it has a magnet on the inside end of it. Clean the magnet off with a rag and replace the bolt after draining. To refill go to Dealer and get 4 quarts of the specific transmission fluid. Approx.$5 per quart. Refill through the dip stick tube. It take nearly all 4 quarts.
I had to go to the dealer to figure out that the Acura doesn't have a filter to change. Another thing is the MDX doesn't have a external or inline fuel filter.
These cars are MUCh different than I am used to with domestics. Actually much simpler to work on.

don't fill through the dip stick tube, it will take forever!!
If you have had the 2nd gear recall done, then you need to take the 2nd gear squirter out with a 12mm socket, or a 17mm if you have not. It's on top of the tranny closer to the firewall, big hole with big bolt- fill hole

That's good to know..... I went and bought a motor cycle funnel from the local Yamaha store to fill into the dip stick. It didn't take too long but it was kinda scary trying NOT to spill it all over the place.
