Default how the hell did this happen?

agx-shocks h&r-springs

took my coilovers off and put my springs back on, pulled out of my driveway and went down the street started hearing a clunking noise so i pulled over and the rear passanger side shock tower shot through the top hat and is sitting like a couple of inches above the top hat? i have had a blown shock b4 but how did this one do this?

maybe you didn't tighten the nut enough...

if u mean the strut rod shot through the top hat, then that means you left out a washer.

if you meant the top hat shot through the shock tower, then well you've got a pretty big hole to weld up there.

thats it me and my friend left out the key washers that sit on top of the shock which keep them from doing the same thing you described... we scared ourselves shitless. as long as you didnt drive on them to long your fine (the car was just supported by springs). just go back and find that washer!

This same exact thing happened to someone I know last night, but on the driverside. He has KYB AGX's, and the strut tower tore right through the top hat, so he was rollin on just his spring.

Well, you're pretty much just have to buy a new shock

the previous owner did that on my car and it dented the hood(fr driver side) ......sucks

Yep..a fairly common event.

Instead of leaving off the factory strut/shock dust shields, you need to cut off the thin steel tube thing and re-install the upper part. Otherwise the strut/shock will pop thru the strut/shock tower.
