What should the gas mileage be on my car?
1989 Civic DX Hatch. Stock motor, automatic transmission, power steering and air conditioning.
I don't use the air conditioning that often so what should the gas mileage be without it.
And yes, that tiny 92HP motor, running the car and two other accessories (A/C and PS) makes the car PRETTY FREAKING SLOW!
Thanks!

ive never owned a dx, but i have owned a 91 hf with bone stock motor (minus the intake) and it got around 35mpg, i now have a 91 si with a b16a I,H,E and gettin around 30ish depending on how i drive.
I wonder because for a long time I had been getting pretty bad mileage. It seemed like it was 27 MPG or so. But that could also be because I think the tank is lower than it really is.
When it is on empty for like 2 days straight and I fill it, there would still be like 3 gallons left in the tank or so.
I still see people on here rocking like 35+ and I was just barely making 30 MAYBE.
I put a new oxygen sensor in, it seems to be helping, but I am still curious as to what I should get. And I know it will probably be less than normal cause it is powering the steering and running and extra pully for the A/C.

when was your last full tuneup?
autos arent as efficient as a manual. more power is lost in transition to the wheels. im getting 30 out of my ef sedan with auto and a/c.

whatever the owners manual says.
but.....my si got 38 mpg on the last tank.
you cant measure by gallons on the tank,
fill up--run till next fill up. divide how many gallons it takes to fill by the number of miles on the trip odometer.

I used to get 35-38mpg @ 75-80mph with my A6 engine, ZC/Si hybrid tranny (with the AC on). that
HF tranny is only worth a crap if it's only pulling the weight of an HF chassis.

Ok, it sounds like I am normal then. Because I seem to come up with anywhere from 27 to 30 something. Last full tune-up, no idea, but I know that needs to be done.
Thanks.
Thanks.
