Why do DEI alarms remote start when power is removed and re-connected?
I've been noticing this a lot lately when I R&R cars at my work. If I pull the fuse or unplug the harness to the alarm, then reconnect it, the alarm triggers the remote start sequence. Why the hell would DEI set it up like this.

Its the microprocesser in the alarm unit, I seen this with real cheap alarms. I rarely see it with dei. But is has happend with dei twice, If you keep the hood opened-if there is a hood pin- and use the switch thats suppose to kill the ground to the remote start unit it won't happen. Not saying it might not but it helps.
Yeah the hood pin kills it as long as it's still good, but on some aged installations, the hood pin is no longer grounded.
This is one of the reasons why I'm not satisfied with DEI alarms, although I do tend to favor them since there isn't much competition.

lol, you can't blame dei for the hood pin, the electronics are good. But the hood pin still needs to be inspected from time to time. I tell customers to wd-40 them every 6 months or so and to test them out. You know some theives like to prep. also what about the switch thats is suppose to be installed to kill the remote start. blk/wht. There is suppose to be a switch so when the car is being worked on it can be defeated. But you know how that goes, some people are lazy.

they all come with that red and white sticker, matter of fact most that have remote start have that sticker. It mandatory by a law for them I just found out.

Its also supposed to have a hood pin.

when the remote start sees a fluctuation in voltage the brain believes that you are ingaging the remote start sequence. If a hood pin is installed then you would not have this problem happen.
