Default tranny question....

ok i have a 99 honda accord ex 3.0L v6 and its an auto and i want to swap it to a 5 speed.. i called up a transmission shop and they said it would cost 4500.. is that too expensive? well how much would it be? im so sick of driving an automatic!!!!

There is no 5 speed to swap into that car. Only a 6 speed and that price is on the low side to do that swap.

I am telling you. There is no 5 speed that will mate to that motor. The only manual transmissions that will work with that motor you have are the 6 speeds that come in either the new TL, Accord v6, or the CL type-S.

Honestly are you reading what I am typing? If he put a 5 speed in there then it would be something that was rigged up and would not be right since there is not a 5 speed that will fit.

If I recall correctly there are a couple of people using the 6 speed transmissiosn that came out of the Acura legend......please correct me if I'm wrong....

Oh to the OP..blah..I doubt he was telling you the truth...probably wanted to scam you out your money....

No the Legend trans would not work. And honestly that is about right to do that price wise.
