Default OEM hardtop vs. Mugen hardtop in strength

i've been debating on the OEM vs the mugen fiberglass version

i want to go with the mugen top because i think it looks better but, it got me thinking it might not be as strong as the oem top since its aluminum.

also, heard a few people on s2ki.com were saying the oem fits like horrible. how could oem fit bad? improper install?

thanks in advance.

oem not fitting properly is due to a bad install

dont think they come with one, most of the guy i knew with mugen top have to get some sort of flat pixel glass, which will not be a defroster.

nope of the hardtop will break unless you do something really stupid

More light-weightness

When I think of the two different hard tops, I think...

Mugen = Sleek, sexy AND performance.

OEM Honda = Stylish and sporty.

The Mugen fiberglass that SilverDc2 is asking about weighs 44 lb, which is exactly the same as the OEM aluminum, according to hardtopguy.com... so no advantage there. The Mugen CF top weighs 10 lbs less.

Mugen uses a treated polycarbonate window

The Mugen top is pretty strong for FRP.

I really didn't like all the noise my OEM top made. The Mugen for my car is more quiet.

Why buy a Mugen fiberglass hardtop, 10 lbs. on the top end of your car, that is horribly there goes your handling. A great example of this is the EVO MR roof is made of aluminum vs. the regular EVo's top being a few lbs's heavier and there is a big difference, now make that 10 pounds, ehhh i would go cf or not get it at all.

If you're going to be such a weight *****, put on the FRP Mugen hardtop, then gut the softtop and voila!!!

That comparison was done between a normal Evo and an MR. There's more to it than a 4lb lighter roof. They slapped a magnetic 4lb sheet on top of the MR and it still whupped ***.
