I have a '95 Civic ex coupe and i recently put a 2 1/4" exhaust with a high flow cat and a cheapo bomb muffler on. it's pushed into the exhaust by a DC Sports 4-2-1 header. I had an identical exhaust on it before, but i had my OEM catalytic converter on it, and that thing was full of carbon buildup. it gave the exhaust a considerable amount of backpressure. i sent it to a shop and had them bend me new pipes and weld flanges on the exhaust so i could install the new catalytic converter (which was another eBay special, straght-thru perforated pipe design). now the exhaust flows much much better and has given me decent performance gains, but the thing sounds like pure ****. i checked all the pipe connections, none of them leak, and there's nothing loose enough to vibrate hard enough to make the sounds that the damn thing makes. does anyone know what i could do differently, like a different muffler or maybe a turbo setup, to get rid of that nasty sound?

My money is on your "bomb" muffler.

 

i figured as much, but it hadn't given me problems like this before . . . could you be more specific, like what brand of muffler seems to work better?

 

cmon guys, someone's bound to have run into the same problem . . . . this damn thing is driving me crazy, doesn't anyone know a good muffler that would fix this?
