The B18C5 (ITR) block is incredibly strong. A local guy takes his to 9500 on the dyno all the time. The head is not stock though.

Remember the diff between your single cam and the b16? It was like OMG. Same thing going from a 1.6, to a 1.8. My r motor revved to 9500 when needed, which wasnt very often because if I was racing people I didnt need to, I was already too far ahead

My friend has ran his crx with a stock b18c with slicks and he went 13.2. So hell yeah it's fast.

why are b18c's so expensive though compared to B16a's. Even B18C1's are pretty expensive.

its just the demand and supply for them...think about it...they have been making b16a since 89...which means there are hell of them around...b18c1 only came around in 94....plus there is a higher demand for a gsr motor vs a b16a...thus they jack up the prices...

160HP+60shot~220 HP for $1700 (b16swap)+$500 (NaawhatImean?)
GSR for the engine alone is anywhere from 2500 if you're lucky to more?

I had a B16 in my CRx and after I put the Type R motor, I went a full second faster in the 1/4 mile.
Now that I am dynoing the engine and fine tuning it, I find the B18C5 to respond better to mods (IHE) than the old B16.
Right now with just fuel tuning, and a very small GSR header, The engine put down 181.7 HP.

most of the guys have mistaken what you're talking about. the 'b18c' is the JDM Type R motor...NOT a GSR motor. are you asking about GSR or a Type R? cuz there's a pretty hefty difference.

My freind just got a B16 LSD, for 1100, for engine/ecu/tranny.

Custom turbo setup-- around 1500.

it will kill a NA GSR, not to mention kill my ZCT!!

oh yes, you're right..i'm sorry. the JDM type R is the 'b18cR'...haha..i can't believe i forgot that. anyway, i wouldn't take a stock b18c to 9.5k! even if the head was built slightly...i dunno if it could handle that much?

hehe i did once....i was and idiot tho...when i first got the swap i had a motified p28 and went for a first test drive...i had my foot hard on the gas in first....you gotta realize i have been driving around in my low reving 89 accord all my life...well it didnt register in my brain that i was well past redline cuz i was just staring in awe at the needle pined on my stock tach...i wasnt paying any attention to my monster tach and big yellow light in my eyes....

9.5k on a stock GSR is a no no....try something like 8.2k

Bang for the buck I think the B16a is a better deal. Ive been in a gsr swapped Crx before and it does feel faster, and torquier (not a word I know). I guess you have to factor in your goals, and how much you want to spend into the equation. First off is the cost difference, the gsr costs more, and you could put the extra into the B16a that you spent on the gsr. Second, a gsr with the same mods as the b16a will be faster. Lastly, if youre looking at a $ amount a B16a is cheaper. It all depends on you. Oh yeah and a turbo B16 is faster than a gsr sorry
Good luck
