Default which tranny... i know its an old topic! sorry:)

I know its been covered about half a million times so if anyone could just post links to forums where its covered i would appreciate it ... or just put in your two cents.
I'm putting an ls in my del sol.. motor is a jdm b18b obd-1. it has about 25000 miles on it. I have a b16 tranny for it now but one of my friends just called and wants to trade me a gsr tranny for it. his tranny has about half the miles of mine. I plan on staying all motor for a while with a few upgrades... just header and exhaust.. the usual. eventually i plan on spraying some nos lol but not for a while. So whats your opinion keep the b16 or trade for the gsr. thanks for your help in advance and im sorry for bringing up this age old topic for ppl to start a war over!

The B16 tranny will make good use of the low end torque the LS has.

def B16. Unless you want to turbo the motor then stick with B16

ok well hes talked me into it.. hes throwin in a couple extra parts i need to finish my swap like the half shaft and starter.. im thinkin this might have been a good idea after all cuz if im spraying eventually i would want to use longer gears right? for instance i could spray in 2nd gear and it would be like spraying an ls 2nd gear becuase the gsr and ls 1st and 2nd gears are the same.. and then the 3rd gear on the gsr would help me accelerate because it is shorter than the ls 3rd gear

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

Shorter gears are going to yeild better acceleration times. Period. Boost does not magically make longer gears better.

I had a Y7 tranny in my car and clicked off a 14.3 and went to a y8 and clicked off a 13.8.

longer gears just help the gas mileage. my friend had a B16 tranny with a GSR motor and his mileage sucked *** compared to my all GSR setup. lol
