Default tranny still ok after accident??

I still have my auto transmission laying around from my first prelude. I got in an accident where the front axles and main frame broke. I heard from a guy that when the axles go so does the transmission. I want to sell it to someone local but i dont want to mess them up by selling them a broken transmission. There was no damage to the front or anything and the ending bay was intact.

My question is: Without putting the transmisson in an another car and testing it out, does it sound like my transmission would be ok (before the accident the transmission was perfect, no dropping or slipping of any gears) ??? thanks in advance

just cause you were in an accident doesn't mean your tranny is fucked, same goes with messing up an axle, but just having an auto transmission sucks expecially on a 5th Gen. since those are known to go out anyways

if your going to take it out to sell, then you might as well open it up and see if it's ok while you have it out. That's the only way to tell for sure. Look for cracks, or chips in the gears, check tolerances, make sure it shifts gears, ect..

There is a section in the factory service manual (the one from HelmInc.), that has all the info you will need.

i honestly doubt that the trans is fucked, even if the axles broke, i doubt they gave enough shock to the differential to mess something up inside, but i agree with 577, take it apart and see what it looks like
