timing issues please help

Default timing issues please help

i've tried searching but no specific answers.

i just did a y7 timing belt & water pump, i line everything to tdc and re-set the dizzy to the middle(cause seems like previous owner had adjusted it). put everything back in properly, now i start it and check it with the timing gun set @16 and it is way off towards the single line on the crank shaft. and seems like everytime i rev it a little the lines moved to a different spot. right now it runs but feels a lil weaker than before and the pointer is point in the middle of the 3 marks and 1 mark. (ex. these are the markings on the crankshaft lll . l the dot represents the pointer.) tried adjusting the dizzy but thats as far as i can go.

QUESTIONS ARE:
do you think i have it one tooth off?
by me moving the dizzy did i mess anything up? i was reading someone saying something about dizzy being 180 degree off what does that mean.
what about jumping the service connector, does that applies to obd2 vehicles.

Check the tension on the belt. Adjust your tensioner if need be.
As far as moving the distributor, you didn't mess anything up. That's how timing is adjusted.
You do need to jump the service connector though to have your timing adjustments actually stay in the computer when you shut the car off. That's for OBD2 as far as I know.

Yeah, you need to jump the service connector. If you move the distributor without jumping the connector, it's pointless, so move it back. Also, there's no way I know of that it could be 180* off; the distributor is keyed so that it only can be attached to the camshaft one way.

When you rev it, the ignition timing should change, so don't worry about that. I assume the car is fully warmed up when you determine the ignition timing?
