Was reading a thread over on Integra forum and it seems that their cars have a safety switch on the clutch, so that the clutch has to be pressed down to start the car. Do US ITRs have the same thing? I've never heard of it before, even though i always press the clutch in before starting my car anyway...just to be sure!
i believe all manual cars in the us have them. But i found out that japanese cars don't have the clutch switch, so you can start them straight from the key (at least thats how my friends hondas from japan are)

As far as a know a shop is not allowed to install them on manual cars. You have to know somebody to do it for you or do it yourself.

weird. i'm sure that's not all japanese cars. the s13 front clip came with a neutral safety switch. are u sure ur friend just didn't get remote start and bypass the wiring?

umm, my r32 gtr didn't have one, my s13 silvia k's didn't have one, my bb4 prelude si vtec didn't have one, and my db8 itr doesn't have one. i think they might have clutch switches, but it doesn't disable the starter when the clutch is out or anything like on a US car.

Does anyoneknow how to disable it so one could start the car with out the clutch?

I have driven a lot of various type JDM cars (direct from japan) and have yet to come across one that had a switch like this, the only cars i can think of over here in europe that requires you to do something like that in order to start the engine is SAAB and Renaults (New models)

i believe its something about looping the wire on the clutch switch. don't quote me.

why would they even have the switch but not have it wired up.
it'd be easy to bypass, when the pedal is down, it completes the circuit. just like in automatics, the starter circuit is completed in park or neutral.
