Default finished my buddys lsvtec but the motor dies when he steps on the gas!

OK this has been a long adventure and i want it to be over! my buddy bought an lsvtec turbo motor from this guy locally. he didn't want to spend the money on getting new parts such as a tensionor and water pump so he put all that together. we got the motor in the car, did a lot of work to get it in and all! so finally we got everything in and everything running, went to start the car and boom it started on the first shot i was happy! when he stepped on the gas my smile turned upside down! he stepped on the gas and it almost shut off, he let go and it went back to idle, stepped on it and almost died again. cel is on but the only code we got was the second o2 sensor we forgot to plug it in. What else can it be? i think it is the timing from the timing belt but those damn aem gears are kind of hard to read. so i want to know if anyone can snap a pic for me of there aem cam gears at tdc for me so i can check that also! thanks guys

If turboed, whats his management, his injectors, and his car and engine year? Then we could help you more.

well what happens when u plug the 2nd O2 sensor is...

The O2 sensor is relatively important...not sure if it'll 'cause ur car to go out like that...but it is PRETTY important .. Just going out on a limb here.. Or is it an ODB1 motor with an ODB2 ECU and that's why it's throwin the code?

check the distributor timing, since it was turbo , it might be set retarded. other than that, maybe its getting too much fuel. Is the motor still turbo by the way??

nah we took the turbo off for now he wanted to get the car running and all that before he puts the turbo on which is a good idea! the motor is from a 96 teg and the head is from a 99 si the car is a 99 ex and we are using a 99 si harness! it just bogs down really bad and when he lets go the gas it idles about 1100 rpms we didn't let the car get to normal temp yet to worried about this problem

check the throttle body, is it properly adjusted , it could be ur tps giving too much fuel or mayb the injectors, they could be larger to compensate for the turbo that was previously on it.

check fuel pressure and injectors it sounds like its not giving it any fuel just to much air. it should be anywhere between 30psi and 50psi. if the timiing was out it would idle rough. question? can you ease on the throttle and get it to rev?

ok i changed the ecu just for the hell of it, and it started right up! and then it was reving up and down over and over again stepped on the gas and it was ok didn't rev it to high because we are using an ls ecu for now the other ecu is on its way back from being chipped, now i was thinking when i changed my radiator in my LS it was going up and down over and over as i filling the rad it was still doing it when the engine reached the op temp it went away and never came back, so i was wondering do you think it is the same problem? i didn't check the code with this ls ecu but there was one on! it was late and i didn't want to stay there to late let me know what you guys think!

glad top hear its runnin. but about the up and down. there is a sensor on the bottom of the throttle body with coolant lines running to it. take it off and on the back side of it there is two phillip / 7mm bolts. under that there is an adjustment just srew it allthe way down and put it back together itshould fix it. i just had that porblem on mine. hope that helps. later man.

well we took the car out for a spin and when came back oil was flying all over the place! we cut off the motor and cleaned it up put some oil back in with some color die and we started the car and stepped on the gas and oil was coming out again, its coming from the lower timing belt cover almost right where the crank gear is. what could it be?
