Default DOHC Motor swap into ek hatch...

well like the title says, im thinking about a DOHC swap for my hatch. im deffinitly not going type r because they are over priced so im debating the usdm b16 vs usdm b18. now i know everybody is going to go "its a no brainer, b18.." but i think the b16 has a little bit bigger of an aftermarket, so im kinda stuck in between. im just lookin for you guy's opinions on either motor considering prices and such. thanks

This is very true and would be my choice as well. But from the questions he is asking I think it's safe to assume he isnt very knowledgeable about his options. Therefore, I think a direct swap would be much easier on him, as a boosted motor must be done correctly, and maintainence/upkeep is an almost constant must. The more you know, the better about each so my advice to the poster is to read up as much as you possibly can on both topics, and make your own educated decision. After you do this, you can then come to us with more specific questions that can be answered to help you achieve your goal.

Do you have future plans? Or just lego build random parts and expect to run 12's? Im not talking ****, just trying to figure out where you're headed with your car.

Good luck. read read read

i disagree with that post. i have both ..a swapped ek coupe with a usdm itr motor and a sohc turbo 96 dx hatch.... the hatch since the day i boosted it ago 4-5 months ago..driven everday had zero problems! the ek coupe.doesnt have many problems but it has it days....i def think a oem motor in the oem car boosted is way safer and reliable for someone who wants to go fast and is new to the scene.

just read and research as much as you can!! before you do anything
