Does anyone have a writeup on this ? Or that could just explain what to remove and what not to, in order to keep heat. I saw that in previous threads it seemed that there was an arguement about leaving the evaporator.

take it all. If you want to keep the heater, leave the evaporator and only remove stuff from the engine bay.
remove fan, remove lines, remove condensor, remove compressor, get a shorter belt, install belt...done.
the ac lines that connect at the firewall are a bitch to get to and unbolt.
