97 Auto Trans Question
I have a lead, down around the converter area. I dropped the trans and am planning on replacing the converter seal. I was going to replace the oring on the converter also. But 2 out of 3 local shops said to just replace the converter also. They said if it is leaking and the oring is there and the seal looks good, chances are it is leaking out of the converter. But the converter doesn't look bad. It was replaced about 14 months ago, when the trans was rebuilt by a local shop.
Should I go ahead and replace the shifter **** seal also?
And while I have the trans out, I was going to drop the oil pan and replace the gasket. Is there a good gasket to get? And any pointers would be great, hate to put it on and still have leaks...
Thanks..

no pan on these transmisions
if the torque converter is bad then I would question the quality of the rebuild. Take trans back to local shop and ask them to do a good will replacement or replacement if it is still under warranty.

I already have the trans out...and I question them doing a good job, so I will just replace the seal...and oring.
On the pan, I am talking about the oil pan on the motor....not sure if there is a "good" brand to use....
Thanks...
