Default What's the Optimal Lower for an R?

I know there are lots of opinions on this topic..

Does the R's handling performance increase with a bit of a drop? How much of a drop is considered optimal? How much is too much (or too little)?

Is there a sweet spot?

Flux - who has lots of questions

seeing how smart the boys over at honda are...I bet the sweet spot is a 15mm drop.

it drives like it's on rails, right out of the showroom

3/4 inch according to Mugen. That's the amount their lowdown kit drops the R. I have it and can't disagree.

Funny, that is the same drop as the Spoon springs....

Ahh but, the Spoon springs are on the stock shocks and the Mugen Low-down is with it's own shocks.

I really do wonder if the R specific springs combined with the stock R shocks is such a good idea? I really wonder if the R shocks will survive as long or as well with the Spoon or H&R or Neuspeed R specific springs? I could imagine that the drop would certainly improve cornering ability but aftermarket springs with the stock shocks has always been an quandry for me??????

Oh, and I'm also interested in the optimal drop but, I'll go one further and ask,,,

What is the optimal drop for road use? For road use in the North East and or on rough roads? For track purposes? For Auto-X purposes? 1/4 mile I could give a sh*t about...

You guys feel that way because the you Have the Mugen Lowdown? Or because you truely have proof that 3/4" ddrop is the optimal setting for your R's?

's and Seconding that are all well and good but, is it Really the Best drop for the R?

And For what purposes? Road/Daily, Track/X????? I'm very curious especially since there are significantly better suspensions than the Mugen Lowdown out there for the R.

So for me too and while I'm at it have a and a on me... or a few 's and definately a few 's on me afterwards so you can catch up.

I think that 3/4 is good...but I don't think that you can really have an optimal drop for the car. I am sure that there will be a specific point at which the car will handle better and that certain suspension components like sway bars and strut towers can work to their optimal level...but I think that becuase changing the height of the car changes a lot about how it handles...that it should almost be something that is different for everyone. Certain people like a certain amount of oversteer or understeer...so there really can't be one specific setting that is the best...it changes depending on the driver.

I probably did...but at the same time...I am happy to put my opinion and my knowledge out there for everyone. If I think certain things...and I am indeed wrong (which I could very well be) then the only way which I can learn that I am wrong is to have my views refuted...so if I am wrong then show me that I am wrong...but I don't think that I am totally wrong...just opinionated
