Default Are any tail lights, besides OEM, OK to put on your car?

Ok I was on here a couple weeks ago looking for OEM tail lights. Well I found a couple sets on eBay, and found they go for around $150 give or take $20. Well what I have on my Integra now is what came with it when I bought the car used, some clear Altezzas, and they have small cracks in them that moisture gets into when it rains. That's why I wanted to replace them.

ANYways, I figured for half the price, I could get another set of clear ones, besides it matches the silver paint on my car OK, or so I thought. I went on another Integra forum site, and the kids more or less tore me apart for buying more clear ones off of eBay (I payed $65 and he threw in free clear corners I think you call them). But the only thing they preach is OEM. Is this just a bunch of kids on that site with that opinion, or is this universally known that clear tail lights are only for gays?

LOL, you are going to get flamed here. Just spend that money to buy OEMs and you won't have to worry about getting flamed and condensation. But everybody is entitled to his opinion. In the end, it's your car, you spend your money however you like.

Look into the classifieds on here. Im sure you can pick them up for pretty cheap. Even find a junkyard they are always cheap.

It was actually...honda-acura.net. Same difference I'm sure. But nonetheless, the problem isn't that I can't find OEM, I'm just wondering if OEM is the only thing that is acceptable.

Although, that team-integra.net seems to have nice step by step explanations of projects.

Just buy whatever suits you. If you like the look of the clear lights than go for it.

But it sounds to me like if I do do that, I might as well get one of those rainbow stickers for the back of my car as well.

Most of us have and would only have OEM, whether that be USDM UKDM or JDM. But like the others have said, it's your car, and it's your money. Do what you want. Remember your the one who has to drive it everyday. Just remember this is Hater-Tech.com so if you show your non OEM lights you will get flamed.

I took a set of Altezza's and blacked them out with the tail light paint, put it on real thick so there is no gayness left, does not look bad on a black car. Did it with the corners too, Darth Vader yeo

who cares what others think, it's your car, your money, and your decision. If you like the all clear and you like the way it looks on your car then do it and be happy.

Ok. Well I'll figure out what I'll do soon. To be honest with you, the tail lights I bought for $65 off of eBay turned out to NOT be SAE/DOT approved, even though the guy said they were in the auction. I've emailed him asking to take them back because of that. I get harrassed by police enough as it is.

But anyways, thanks guys. I really am not the type of person who cares what others think. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't get hit on by gay guys at stop lights and stuff.

ebay tail lights blow, trust me. i ordered the UKDM knock-offs. i spent $65 shipped. they fit like absolute garbage, and looked like garbage. so i went with 98+ OEM and could not be happier. moral of this story, kids....do things right the first time, becuase you will end up spending more money in the long run if you do not.

buy some OEM tails.

I have no room to talk as I am still a n00b, you haven't even been here for a month and your going to call someone a n00b? I am sure you have probably had other names on here and that is great, but...whatever
