My beautiful Integra. She died!
I've got a 2000 ITR (with no mods whatsoever) which has done 107,000 miles. It has been drinking oil for the last 20,000 or so miles, and last week the engine siezed and shot a leg straight through the block.
:-(

I was just about to sell her for spares or repair when I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...i%3D1
So I've bought it, and my ITR will live once again - hopfully.
Can I ask what's involved in swapping the engine? Being a logical kinda guy I would think it's one engine out and the other in, but I guess it's not that simple.
Does this need to be a job for a professional mechanic?
Cheers!

Not so much a rebuild as a swap :-)
Just after an idea as to what should be involved in the engine swap. Been quoted £600 ($1000) for a mechanic to do it. Does that seem like good value?

unless you pick that up locally, i wouldnt suggest buying from that ebay guy.
and if you have a cherry picker, swapping engines should not be that difficult...if you want to save yourself around £400, do it yourself. Buy a helms, rent a cherrypicker, and buy some tools you will need anyhow

I understand that there's always an element of risk when buying a second hand engine, but replacing the block and then re-building the engine would cost too much. Honda wanted £4000

I do plan to pick it up though</TD></TR></TABLE>
the reason he is telling you to be cautious is because the motor went so inexpensively, and the seller is also claiming to include 5-lug suspension with it. the fact that the seller also has 0 feedback should make you nervous. if he asks you to wire money, or send it to him Western Union, DON'T DO IT!
Bring him cash, or if you pay electronically (paypal) make sure you do it on a credit card so that you can dispute the charge if the guy scams you and runs away with your money. If you use paypal and pay directly out of your bank account, Paypal will *NOT* get you your money back if he has already taken it out of his own paypal account and run away.

whether the money was in ur paypal account or not it doesnt matter. if the other party tries to scam u and u pay through paypal then u will be covered.

No not completely. I've been through it I know. Stuff happens sometimes that's not really your fault. Good luck on getting your R roadworthy again.
