I have a 90 civic si that is giving me troubles. The brakes have been bled, the rear drums have been adjusted, butit still feels like there is air in the lines(the pedal gets really soft when it is running). Any ideas? Thanks turbolude

does it idle higher than normal?

the problem could be your master cylinder is shot. check around the brake booster/MC and see if you see a leak,. such as brake fluid.

but it could also be leaking internally as its like 15 or mroe yrs old. Is there enough brake fluid? (stupid ? but..)

and are the pads/shoes in good condition, or are they really really worn.

also you could check your brake lines, although i bet you have since u bled brakes. could be a hole.

your car would idle higher i believe if the booster is ok, but the master cylinder is not good.

check those things out.

Did this problem just start, or did you do a brake job or something ? Sometimes you have to bleed the system 3 to 4 times before all the air is out.

I just got the car the other day from a friend that had replaced the rear a arm along with the housing for the drum, so I do not know what it idled at before but it idles at 1100 rpms. I also tried a different mc and it acts the same way. There are no external leaks and the pads are in good condition.

Ok, you tried a different KNOWN GOOD mc?

just wondering.

and since you tried another one, did you bench bleed the MC? if you didnt then there will be air in the system you will pretty much never get otu unless you bench bleed.
