Understanding Cornering Phases to Help with Shock Set-Up
Phase 1: Increasing braking and increasing steering
a) Weight is being transferred forward and outward
b) Outside front shock is in bump
c) Inside rear shock is in rebound
d) Other two shocks have minimal movement or effect
Phase 2: Decrease Braking and Increase Steering
a) Outward rear shock is in bump
b) Inside front is in rebound
c) Other two shocks have minimal movement or effect
Phase 3a: Increasimg Steering with Constant Throttle
a) weight is transferred outward
b) both outside dampers are in bump
c) both inside dampers are in rebound
Phase 3b: Decreasing Steering at Constant Throttle
a) opposite of phase 3a
b) only happens when steering away from current direction(slalom)
c) when lateral acceleration passes through zero return to phase 3a
Phase 4: Decreasing Steering and Increasing Acceleration or Braking
a) happens at apex or exit
b) weight is being transferred inward and back
c) outside front is in rebound
d) inside rear is in bump
e)other shocks have minimal movement and effect
I HAVE A CHEAT SHEET I MADE TO HELP DIAGNOSE AND FIX UNDERSTEER AND OVERSTEER PROBLEMS AS FAR AS SHOCK SETTINGS GO, BUT WHEN I TYPE IT LOOKS FINE BUT WHEN I POST IT ITS ALL JUMBLED UP
I CAN EMAIL IT TO YOU GUYS JUST SHOOT ME A PM
