iv never seen a comptech base kit perform better than a base vortech kit.......
A/c or not. VORTECH > comptech

My understanding is that stock settings on the two kits is different (I may be wrong). I was under the impression that the vortech boost setting stock was greater than the stock boost setting of the Comptech charger.
BTW, I am really surprised that EK9InSPiReD didn't get flammed for this post, since this topic has been covered to death already.

Why is Vortech considered hillbilly?
Don't they both use the same blowers (or at least isn't the blower made by the same company)?
Aren't they both American companies (based in the U.S.)?

vortech makes more product for a larger range car, which happens to be domestic, i guess.
the blower are from same factory, yes.
both are from U.S. of A but comptech only deal with the Honda and Acura, so some people likes it better, since it felt more "focus-ed mind"
seriously, if one of the blower is a POS then why people still buying them left and right?

The thing that kills me is that people are always saying the base Vortech is more powerful than the base Comptech... so the Vortech is better.
Well, let's think about it... on the two base kits, the Comptech has a 5lb. pulley with their kit and Vortech has a 7lb. pulley. Wow... I couldn't imagine why the Vortech puts out more power. LOLOL
I think either kit will do the job. I have talked with people that have had experience with BOTH... not just one or the other. It sounds like the Comptech has a better fit and finish and the Vortech FMU sux, but aside from that... they seem to be similar. The Vortech does have the price advantage and comes with the 7lb. pulley instead of the 5lb. one, so that is nice.
I will probably go with the Comptech one because fit and finish is important to me. If a company works that closely with Honda (enough to be sold at their dealerships) then that is where my money will go. I haven't heard anyone complain about the fitment or service with Comptech. But once again, either one would be fine.

Honda doesnt make Comptech.
If you want 450whp youd go turbo. The whole point of going s/c is reliability. IMHO Comptechs have had less issues than Vortech. ALso stokc for stock Comptech and Vortech make similar power numbers, you cant go by everyones dyno's and the freak guy who says he got 350 stock. Comptechs pulley does 5.5psi while Vortech 7psi though they make the same amount of power.
