For up to about 200 whp and a little over (guesstimate) it's good... I know two guys that both have that same clutch on their cars (stock LS and light bolt-ons GSR) and they both like it. I'm going to get one for my basically stock (for now) B18b.

*edit - ebay is the cheapest place to get one, you can get a brand new one for $234 shipped I think it was (last time I looked was about a week ago so prices should still be the same)

well ill put it this way, exedy makes the clutch discs for many companies such as act and cm, and i believ a few others as well. it is printed on the front of every act.

yes, they are great clutch kits, however i would reccomed the stg. 2 much better performance great pedal feel, and its only a little bit more exp.

A stage 1 will hold upto 185 ft lbs without sacrificing its longevity or performance...

In a b16, you'll be fine. Its a great clutch...I have one in my car mated to a Fidanza.

Stage 2 is kind of too stiff unless you have a high hp n/a or forced induction, that's what my brother has in his soon-to-be-turbocharged GSR and it's kind of stiff compared to stock.

its actually alot like stock i have insalled many of the stg. 2 3puck and i think its about the best pedal feel out there.

but then again i absolutely hate the stock wet sponge feel, which is close to what u get the with any stg 1 system. keepin mind im not talking about performance here just pedal feel.

It seems like there are a lot of Exedy clutch kits for around 120-130$ shipped. Are ones like this legit or is it better to spend the extra $100 and get a clutchmasters kit?

I need to order one soon I think I blew a clutch spring and my car just got towed into the shop today.

The cheap Exedy kit $130 is a stock replacement kit. The Stage one $230 is the full face organic race kit. And the Stage two $??? is the 3 puck kit.

I hate puck clutches on a street car... Unless you are making a very decent amount of torque...

the stage 2 chatters a lot if you try to start off "normal", meaning light throttle at around 1-1.5k rpm. if you start off a little higher and hit the gas harder it smooths out quite a bit. i don't know how that compares to the act 6 puck, which also seems to be pretty popular for turbo'd cars, but the chattering gets annoying sometimes.

It's the same pretty much. Has the same torque holding numbers.

I've been through 2 of their clutches...they hold well, but if you're abusive, you'll shear off a chunk of metal around the edge of the marcel springs. I think both times it could have been attributed to my tranny starting to die, but still...they broke.

arent stage 2 clutches, 3 or 4 puck? Cuz I heard that 3 and 4 puck clutches suck with drivability.

you're talking about the stage 1, right? cuz i have the stage 2, and im in the process of installing the turbo right now. i hadn't really heard anything bad about exedy before, so i went with the stage 2 clutch. really hoping it lasts, cuz it wasnt too cheap.

but anyway, the 2 people i know with stage 1's have pretty stock engines (ls and gsr), but they really abuse their cars. the gsr has had the clutch for about a year and has no problems whatsoever.

I have a LS with an intake, exhaust, and header, bolt-on mods. And I had the Exedy Stage 1 Clutch kit for about 6 months, and it doesnt compare to my old clutch, ACT Stage 1. I would recommend it over the Exedy Just my 2 cents.

Just installed my Stage 1 Exedy organic clutch kit along with a CM 11.5lb fly.

I actually like the pedal feel, about twice as stiff as stock (mine was pretty damn soft) I also wanted a flywheel which was lighter but not too light so saving about 8.5lbs over stock feels perfect for me.

As for the clutch, it bites well so far and I like it a lot better then the OEM replacement I had before fromt he previous owner. This whole combo was paired with my 98 USDM ITR tranny and damn I love the whole combo.

Overall, I'm super happy with the whole clutch/fly/tranny combo on my GSR right now. I would recommend it to someone who lives in a trafficy area.
