Took at look at the 06 RSX Type S A Spec Package
The car looked sweet, 17" gunmetal wheels, A spec suspension, different bumpers, and type R spoiler. Does anyone know if the A spec suspension is worth the money and close to a stock ride? The salesman told me its all still under warranty since everything is done through the dealership which is great. Price on the car is $26k and adding the Aspec package made it about $30k at Radley Acura. Is it worth $30k for all that?????
I wonder the same thing. The acura dealer told me this is as close as RSX-Type R you will be able to get in the states. The car looks really great and the suspension looks really good. Is it worth it though?
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that it is not worth it.
At 30k, you're just about entering into the region of: Subaru STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Honda S2000, BMW 325Ci, Acura TSX w/ navigation, and more.

I dont know I have wondered myself. Just get the Type S and throw on some good coilovers and a Type R spoiler and save a bunch of money. The guy above me brought up good points.
hell no it is not even worth close to 30k!
u can get a type-s for 24k, your choice of rims, coilovers/a-spec suspension on ebay and spoiler for WAY less.
the suspension is good but not the drop most people want. still very STOCK like though.
if you want to spend 30k on rsx, good luck finding a credit union that will finance that.

this also raises the point on what is this car worth to you?
there are people that want it
look at the 06 civic si, 19,990 msrp but marked up to 25k and people are paying it.
to me,...a car is never worth more than the msrp to me.

Were you at Radley at Bailey's Crossroads or Radley on Route 1 (Karen's)?
Personally, I think you should be sure of your money situation and offer $3K less than what they are asking.
The A Spec USDM Type S is a neat package and although it's expensive you do have the advantage of the dealers handling any problems free of charge. I'm not sure if you know this or not but the short stroke of the front McPhersons makes aftermarket coilovers frequently problematic...you can blow an aftermarket DC5 shock just by going over a moderate pot hole at moderate speed, sometimes.
So knowing that the A Spec shocks are Honda Showa shocks, designed specifically for the car by the same people who designed the car in the first place, is probably worth something.
Sure, it's not the absolute best suspension and sure, it's not the highest spring rates...blah...blah...blah....
But it's a neat, well considered package that says Honda all over it.
If you're a fan of the DC5 then, sure, why not?
You can buy the parts yourself, of course. But putting everything together is a pain and you're going to have to decide for yourself whether it's worth it paying the Honda dealer for the labour.

I agree with Mr. Knighton the Acura A Spec package is a good one. It's also damn expensive. Too expensive, IMHO. However, that said, if Acura had put together an '06 Type S "special edition" of some sort in Championship White/red Recaros with that package, I'd have bought one. Maybe two.
If you really have the hots for that car and that package, I'd shop around. I, too, live in the DC area, and know from experience that Radley's two Acura stores always ask an arm and a leg for their cars and add-ons. Twice now after starting out at Radley's I've ended up buying cars from the Acura store in Manassas. In both instances, I did it over the phone -- no hassle, just a fast 9% discount from list. (Of course, I don't screw around either. When I say I'm going to buy the car, I buy the car. When I say I have a check in hand, I show up with the check.) The $3k discount Mr. Knighton suggested is entirely realistic.

Ti's a good package... however not worth what the dealer is asking for.. Do what I did.. i pieced the whole a spec together from finding deals... now I have the full aspec and spent 1/4 the price
you can find the suspension elsewhere.
clubrsx.com classified forum for one.
everytime i see an a-spec anything, i think to myself, "damn, that person spent a lot of money on that car"
if you're going to change the wheels and stuff anyways, why spend the money on the a-spec.
the stock type-s wheel > aspec wheels imo.

Well I look at it this way... $30k for an DC5 isn't really worth it. Granted it looks hella clean with that package but for the money I don't think so. You could go by an S2000 or a freakin' EVO for that much. Like someone else mentioned- just go buy the aftermarket parts yourself, that's what I did.

Or just like it was said above, piece the car together. might be long and tedious but hey the end results are nice. Just didn't like the fact that dealers are trying to hustle, hustlers.
F that. I bought my 02 TYpe S for 14.6 (used obviously). I'm not gonna sit here and say the A-Spec Package isn't worth 5,000 but I wouldn't get it. The only way I would get it is if I had the money to burn like that and felt extremely confident about never upgrading the wheels, suspension, lip or spoiler.
Here's a good example for ya. My bro was thinkin about have the dealer put on the A-SPEC spoiler on his 03' he just bought. I found him a Carbon Fiber one on Ebay for over 1/2 what the dealer wanted for them to put on on. You do the math.
