type R vs 200sx
do you mean 240sx? eaither way... ITR is way better! and i'm not just saying that because i'm a "honda-guy". it has better 1/4 mile times and will easily beat it around a track. although you will have to worry about theft a little more than a nissan 200/240sx...

ITR>240sx
ITR>240sx
two complete opposites, before you narrow your search between a 200/240 and itr, i think you need to decide what your intentions for the car are, it sounds like this may be your first car and your friends told you those were the best cars, so your going on different forums getting different opinions, which is not bad but i think your scale is set a liitle high looking at the R. maybe you shoould look at civics or preludes instead, if you get really into hondas and you want to start road racing or autocrossing then start thinking about the R. in any case put your flame suit on.

yeh hes from australia fellas
the 200 will be more expensive in terms of insurance... and will feel like a sloppier, heavier car stock for stock
but might do slightly better in a straight line
like it was said above, you woul need to put bucks into a 200 to make it handle and feel like a stock DC2R
but then the equivalent money spent on a 200 would see it being a bullet in a straight line

i dont think its fair to compare these two cars, i know here in Ireland 2nd hand honda prices are starting to slide because there is a large number of RWD cars coming in from japan, drifting seems to be sweeping the country at the moment. in standard form the 200sx is a pretty mundane car in comparisson to an ITR, so i suppose it all depends on what you want from you're car.
my mate has an s14 set up for drift & i have to say its a savage car, in fact only this morning i was giggling like a school girl
in the passenger seat as he lit it up

Stock for stock an ITR is way better than an S14 in just about every area. Brakes better, handles better and is a tad faster in a straight line.
On the other hand the SR20DET unit is very easy and cheap to get more power from. With stock turbo you get 280-300whp for very little money.
If you want a track car go for ITR. If you want a drag car go S14 IMO. You have to put a good amount of money into a S14 to get it as fast as an ITR on a track.

Lucky Charms, not just the country, but i think drifting is taking over the world LOL... it's the new "trend"
anyway, the ITR will get to the end of any track faster then a 240sx stock for stock, period.

i would'nt swap my ITR for anything, as i said in another thread recently i'll never let it go, i'm thinking about a dc5 itr as a daily driver & keep the dc2 for fun but that drifting is good craic,
i think it was nieve of the author to come onto an itr specific thread to ask this question, we've already made our decision on which was best, so i just tried to be objective and not too biased towards the ITR
but obviously honda>nissan

depends on what you want to do with the kar. For the obvious, the R is not prime choice for the drifting. But stock to stock, the R has better drivability. Vtec, high revs and lsd tranny... what more kould you want ?
well, if he's in australia, the 240 may actually be available with an sr20. my buddy live down under and says a lot of the cars come like they would in japan, wouldnt surprise me, if it was a silvia were comparing it to, the itr is still beter but an sr20 has a lot of potential as well.

Yeah the US 240sx is called 200sx in both japan, europe and australia. It comes with the SR20DET motor as I mentioned above.

Once you achieve that Zen moment of realization that "RWD>FWD, therefore 200SX>ITR", the entire conquest is complete! Sell everything and call it day.

Depends.. I like S14's but the ITR can be a better car depending on what you want.
