VTEC KILLER CAMS for H22!! already exists? custom maybe ? need info!!
Do you guys know of companies making non vtec cams for H22a engines?
( by no vtec i mean like Toda Vtec Killer cams .. only 2 full lobes, no vtec lobe )
working on a race project, and VTEC poses a 100lbs penalty
If it doesn't exists,
wich custom camshafts company could be able to do that for us?
thanks all

you can lock the rocker arms to only operate off the vtec lobe, but thats about all i know you can do for the h22. I know that there arent any produced vtec killers for our motor.
i'd definitely give Frank a ringy dingy

Try webcamshafts.com
They will make a custom grind to your specs. or even help you figure out what your specs should be.

^^ To what 98vtec said..
You can do that and use a Cam in the sense that it ONLY has the VTec Lobe, rather than the idle and normal running lobe.
So.. Basically you're running/idle-ing on the VTec Lobe..
I do know a guy selling these if you would like a pair of them..
Also, I kinda had a question about these since we're on this topic..
I've heard of "VTec Killer Cams" and "VTec Eliminator Cams," now I don't know if people just call them different, or come up with different names and it gets spread around.. But is there any difference between the two?
I get the hint in the "Eliminator" Cams, but are "Killer" Cams the same also? Just wondering..

So then 98vtec, what are the Cams with ONLY the VTec Lobe called??
Not trying to sound smart there, if you read it that way..
Just wondering this as I see them all called the same.. And it confusing me!!!!
lol

thanks guys for the input
we could always run only ON the vtec lobe
wich would technally disable the variable valve thus getting us rid of
a 100lbs dead weight
but since we might have to go with custom cams neway,
i think that i'll contact some of the cam company and see if they can make
a reagular non vtec cam for this engine ( shouldn't be too hard i guess )
do you guys know the maximum opening on the valve before the assembly hits the guide? then maximum valve opening that actually gives something
( point where more means nothing )

^^The Exhaust Cam he has is: "the lift is at 478 with a 260 duration."
And the intake cam is bigger.

What racing sanction adds a penalty for having VTEC?
If anything, you should get a break!

it's confusing b/c you are refering to "vtec" as a noun instead of an action that occurs......the action is being eliminated or killed because there is now only one lobe

those crane cams with the roller rockers would be sick.
Frank's the guy to talk to about those too.

ok was on the crane site and it seem from there specs there not the biggest casm out there , im guessing they cant go to big with them as they wont idle well enough .
so really for overall performance is it better to stay with a vtec cam and have a tolerable lowend and have more top end , or am i missing somethign here ?

dam and judging by the price of them they better work better then anything else out there
so lets disscus the gains from these ,
they claim 52%ligter (the roller rokers) this would amazing for reving high and keeping friction losses at minimum , would be right in thinking that you would also be able to use a softer spring making the friction even less an issue ?
and how unusable would the bottom end power be .

I'm pretty sure they will do any grind you want, but yeah as with any non vtec type valvetrain you will lose idle quality, buts its just the compromise you have to live with if you want the power.
and yeah the price sucks but theyre so damn cool!

Well, isn't there a difference between the Cams with only the VTec Lobe and Cams with only the Idle & Normal running Lobe??
^^A name difference I mean..
