pipe notching with end mill
anyone else do it this way? i love it.

actually if I had a mill, I would do it this way,
I know there is a compagny that sell a carbide bit similar to this one, except that you can attach it to a press drill and use the vise to moove the pipe foward.
I saw this at horspower Tv just can't remember the name of the compagnie that make the bit.

that does work but drill press spindle/bearings arn't designed to take any sort of side load

i bet you get all kinds of crazy noises off that mill. A roughing mill on thin walled pipe. If you are having chatter problems just try to find a wooden dowl rod of some sort and shove it in the end of the pipe being notched and that will reduce chatter
