A couple of S2K questions (Rollbar, RWD, etc)
Selling the ITR tomorrow and am trying to decide what to get. Right now it's down to S2k pretty much now, EVO or 350z later. So i figure y'all would be the best people to ask a couple questions about the s2k on the track.
1) will i need to buy a roll bar for HPDE's? Or is the stock one adequate? i've heard yes and no on this before.
and the next question is dumb, but better to ask than to be surprised
2) Having only driven FWD cars before, how is driving a RWD car different on the track, are you still accellerating/breaking/lifting at the same points? Thanks for dealing with my stupidity guys

FATT ( BSR) did allow the use of the factory, but that might have changed.
NASA, same as BSR.

If there's room under the top to allow for a bar tall enough to meet track requirements... (anyone remember exactly? is it 2 inches above your helmeted head? what would you guys recommend?) Remember, I could get you a schweet custom welded rollbar or cage.

Its a problem of making one tall enough, and having the top be usable still... i guess with aftermarket seats that lower the driver, and then get a rollbar that will fit under the top, you can be good to go... But thats a lot of money to mod a car just to drive around the track, but I'm sure its worth it...

you said blower....i likey!!
s2000 on 14lbs??
ill take one
and about the cage pics, i dont like the fact the roll hoop is not completly perpendicular to the ground......my opinion though, those mount points better be strong because they will have to take an unreal amount of stress

There are more and more S2k roll bars poping up. I would highly consider getting one if you plan to track the car on a regular basis. Most clubs do allow the factory bar, but I wouldn't want to risk it. Most people's head is above it anyway with a helmet on.
The factory bar does seem to work though.

This one looks acceptable, anyone see any faults with it?
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...ight=bitterman - some guy on the S2Ki.com board, don't know too much about him.
That one I think was custom made. I remeber reading a thread on s2ki.com about it. It leans forward for the roof to clear.
I would look into one that has a horizontal bar to attach harnesses to.

Only that it should be padded. I do wonder why it's "leaning" forward though.

Probably the only way to keep the top useable.
I was just thinking "mouse trap"
John, it sounds like to get the car you want you are going to have to make some compromises. I don't like going 120 mph in any car (much less a contertible) without a substantial amount of steel around me. If you get the S2000, perhaps you should take a break from the track stuff for a while until you get that Evo or new Z.
BTW, I don't think that bar would pass an SCCA Solo 1 tech.
