Default Update on ITR theft and Settlement...

Finally my insurance has offered me a settlement for my ITR. I received a call yesterday from my claim agent and still no word from the PD about the car But the insurance company has processed the paper work and already made me an offer.
He first calls and beats around the bush and then offers me $20,500! WTF!!! I don't think so! Not when the market for the ITR is starting to jump and actually hold its value above MSRP (new!) I printed up about 14 different 2001 ITR's around the country off of autotrader.com. The cheapest I found was for $23,000 by an individual and $25,000 by a dealership. The most expensive one I found was $30,000 by an individual and $28,000 by a dealership! WOW....

He calls me back and says to give him an hour to see what he can do. In the mean time I tried to find values for the car on kbb.com (kelly blue book) and no results and the black values for the 2001 ITR are not available. I had to call the bank and they couldn't give me a value on the car..."undetermineable." The bank said that they would have to consult with an Acura dealership. I don't have the time, whatever. Thirty minutes had already passed and my claim agent calls me back at and tells me that he can offer me $24,500!!! HOLY ****!!!!!!! Thats a little more than MSRP and!...its $4,000 more than he originally offered me! I believe that I am happy with that and I should be getting everything done on monday.

I actually thought that I would be forced to sue my insurance company for a decent settlement. I had Acura fax them a quote for my car and Acura came up with $23,500 as a fair market value. Well it seems as that my insurance company is really trying to help me and work with me. I am really shocked especially with how many points I have...hehe Can you say that the ITR under my name is the same insurance rate as a good drivers rate for a 360 Modena!

Cheers,

Safa

Good to hear, Safa!

I've dealt with Nationwide before, when one of their policyholdes rear-ended my Honda. Still bitter about that

Any word on what you're replacing the R with?

BUY MY R!! it's an 01 black, with just over 14k miles! I'm only asking $21k so you'll keep some extra money from the Ins. company!!

Not after he pays sales tax.

Unless he writes the amount for the bill of sale for a lot less.

as far as I'm concerned he can write the Bill of Sale for whatever they want... That's up to him......It's still less than what his Ins. Company is reimburing him for....

Good settlement but if I got my R stolen, I'm sure that I won't buy another one.

and the best part, it costs less to insure. When I inquired, the WRX 02 will cost me $3 less per 6 months, compared to 1998 GSR. NOw imagine your savings from insuring an ITR?

MKIV supras are definately bad ***, but tough to find a nice (ie- not beatin on, not modded to hell) one for 23-24. I'd say wait it out (if you can) and see what the lancer does. if you need a ride now, RSX-S i think are very nice, and WRXs are cool of course.

find a good deal on a beater while you wait. then, when the car you really want comes along, buy it and sell the beater for what you paid for it.
