Default DOes adding cams make your engine sound different?

Well this has came up with various people who's heard my car(co-workers and random people)

I'm not the first owner of my car...so any internal engine gutting, I haven't done yet.

But so far my coworkers...well ex-coworkers were mechanics and they told me that my my engine sounded wierd and they thought that it may have cam gears...

Then another time another person said that it sounded that it may have cam shafts...

Now I'm totally confused...does adding those parts really make a different noise to the car. I mean I can describe the noise to be...well the car is a little noisier than others...there's a loud ticking sound...but it's not really fast...when it's at idle...it makes te sound 2-3 times per second...and it's constant as well. DOn't know what it is...but I've been running with it for more than a year and nothing has ever happened...also some of my friends said that my teg makes a just a little more torque than usual.

Anyone know or heard of this before?

Also forgot to mention...my car is just a regular RS...no VTEC

if it's not fast..?...then it might be

1. bent rod
2. need valve adjustment
3. just some weird noise

you would only notice a difference in tone if you had really adgressive cams. and even so there wouldn't be any ticking..just sligh fluctuation in rpm at idle. it would sound more like the engine bogging if anything with cams.

One of your cams might have skipped a tooth on the timing belt, pull your valve cover and have a look.
