Default Mid-Ohio info thread

Please post your Mid-Ohio info here. What are your favorite restaurants, hotels, and things to do nearby? If you have good info about the area please pass it on to those of us who will be going there in September for our first time. Thanks.

I'm staying in Mansfield at Knights Inn. If you have not make your reservation, you better do it now. All the hotel around the race track is already sold out when I made the reservation a month ago!

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The only thing I don't like about mid Ohio is all the walls next to the track, but I guess you have to put up with that to let the spectators get up close. I like tracks with lots of run off room. My wife however, (who does not drive race cars) LOVES mid-Ohio for all it's great spots to watch the races, its great food, its great facilities, and all the fun stuff to do in Mansfield after the racing is over.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Since my wife will be coming along, I would like to know what are all the fun stuff to do.

Shopping what else?

They have a big maul, several strip mauls, several nice movie theaters, tones of nice places to eat. Hell, just exploring the town is part of the fun, and there is quite a bit to explore. Maybe we can all let the wives go shopping while we hang out in a bar and watch the speed channel.

Hey Walt, that's an idea. But I have to hold the credit card with me. If she uses it, it will go over the limit since I will be using it to go to Nationals!!

Buck's is down the street from the track. I stayed at a Super 8 in Mansfield next to an Arby's and across the street from another good restaurant called "Bob Evans". But that was my first time there so maybe that's why I think it's good.

Here's a link to 1229 pics I took during my trip to Mid-Ohio back in August 2004 doing papparazzi work for Andy Hope. Hopefully it will give you a feel for what it's like over there.

There is Showtime in Mansfield, full nude strip club. "Dirty 30" Fantasy West outside of Crestline. Fantasy East in Ashland. There are Shitload of strip clubs in Columbus 1hr away. I've never been to any of them. I prefer Canadian strip clubs, you can get wasted, and blue ***** at the same time.

Toad got it all good, he missed the Chipotle in Ontario, My favorite place to eat! Also missed Fazolis too, there is a new Arbys is there, Logan's Steak House, Skyline Chilli.

If you guys get here a week early there is an Auto-x Going on at Mansfield Lahm Airport on the 4th, of Sept.

There are lots of Junkyards in Crestline that usually have good prices, so if there is anything you need, allot can be found there.

The best mountain biking course in Ohio is nearby also, if anybody is into any of that?

If anybody is looking for anything to do in particular PM me, and I'll see what I can find for you.

wished i would have went and seen the amish people that apparently live somewhat close the track.

FYI the weather is weird, out here it doesn't change DRASTICLLY in less then 1 minute, in ohio it changes quicker then that.

If a wind storm comes up, let it take what it will, a few guys were injured trying to hold down tents and such.

Jimmy, when we were leaving the track on sunday night we passed a number of large gatherings of Amish people, it was so cool, to have just left this high tech racing environment and to see people that live with none of the modern conveniences that we all take for granted, Donna and I were very humbled.

HA HA HA....you think Bart knows something. You are awefully trusting...you know just cause you are from the west coast he is going to send you to Canada.

Yeah there are a lot of Amish around the area. It is kind of scarey to run up on them. There is a large concentration around the area about a 75 mile radius. They come into my dad office and bring him all kinds of food and stuff for helping them. It is funny to see the horse and buggies lined up at Wal-Mart in Ashland too.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

Yes, please be careful when coming around bends or up over hills because there may be a Amish buggy on the other side. They're very nice people and most sell homemade wood furniture, sheds, or food out of their farms - all good stuff.

Like Bart, I could probably also help out if people need me to. I live about 45 minutes from the trake though, so not nearly as close as Bart. I'd probably be much more able to offer any info about Columbus itself.
