DX with no AC??
I got this in an email:
http://www.vw.com/rabbit/rabbi...t2006
Which compares the new rabbit to the new civic dx.
But when I saw no AC on the Civic I was thinking VW must be doing a fud campaign.
According to this PDF from Honda's website it doesn't.
http://automobiles.honda.com/i...t.pdf
WTF?! Is this some weird add on option later...or a typo!?
I can't believe Honda would release a everyday car with no AC.
Can someone confirm the DX comes with no AC.(maybe a dealership)
(If it doesn't I think my dad will either go Ford or VW then.)
A friend of mine owns an older DX and it came with AC std.
TIA

I can confirm it. My DX just last week finally got the ac installed. Costed almost 2 grand. You're right, it came WITHOUT ac. Dealerships can opt to install it of course before they try to sell it, of course they'll also charge you a premium. BTW, not only do DX's don't come with ac, they don't have radios either. No power door locks and mirrors. They do have power windows however.

Damn...
I can't believe Honda is selling a car without AC in the states. I could see maybe a ITR or a CTR but not a normal DX civic.
Knowing this I can't see picking the Honda over the econo Rabbit or a econo Ford.
Seems like Honda is trying to force folks into LX and EX models.

The Civic DX is simply a teaser model. I dont know the build percentage, but they probably account for less that 5% of the new Civics.
Isn't every car company guilty of doing this?
To dpao6:
Why did you get a DX and pay for AC. Wouldnt it have been easier to just get the LX instead. Not to mention the other additional features that come with the LX.

Your correct...but not including AC at that price is stupid on Honda's part.
I do think dpao6 should've went to the LX model if he/she wanted AC...or went with another make.

Honda is selling every Civic they can produce. Yeah, it would be nice if the DX had AC but if the market continues to pay the premium to get AC by purchasing the LX and EX model I dont see Honda's mistake.
Anyways, if one really wants a small Honda that comes with AC and starts around $14k that what the Fit is for.

I've only seen about 3 new civics around here and they were either Ex or Lx.
I see more Honda Accords then anything.
I doubt a Honda buyer who wants a Civic will go for a Fit. I know I wouldn't.
Why would a person go for basically a small mini van when they wanted a coupe to begin with?
I myself would've gone for the LX or EX model if I was going to buy one.

Well, I always thought that the DX was std with a/c. My guess would be that Honda is trying to "phase out" the DX.
My Civic CX didn't come with A/C either, but I live in SoCal so it really didn't matter much. (Except one day when I decided to tint my windows in the middle of July...and nearly died because I had no A/C...I had to stop at every light and open my door!

my friend has a dx, since it has no a/c and no power locks and other options it quit a bit lighter than the lx model, he wanted to save weight. A/C also takes away from power, ex are running like flat 17s yet he has a c.a.i and catback and he ran a 15.6

Well I think it's ok if you plan running a solo events...but not ok if say you live in the South or SE.
Humidity will kill you in a non AC car. I know I use to have CRX Si with no power anything.
After awhile I got tired of coming to work or where ever all sweaty... It was only none sweat during the winter months here...which in the SE is all of 1-2 months.

Bingo. If I wanted a dedicated stock class autocross car an H-Stock DX would be it. Weighs under 2600 lbs and has 140 HP. That's a great power to weight ratio for H Stock.
