You need:
Compressor
Condenser
All AC lines
(might be forgetting something else)
If your climate control doesn't have ac buttons on it, you'll need a new climate control. My DX came with AC. I thought all did, or was it just an option?

I hope you get some ideas because I have a 1994 Civic DX that came without AC and I would really like to add it myself. I have checked with local professional shops and the price runs around $2,000-$2500 for them to do it. It would be great if someone who has actually did this would chime in!!

That is absolutely highway robbery. I don't even believe any shop would quote you that much. When I took mine out, it was less than 15 minutes of work.

did you take out the box behind the dash? i think you will need a diff. one if your car didnt come equiped w/ A/C from the factory.

I don't know if you need a new heater core or fan blower. If you do, then you can find those parts for cheap at a local junkyard or HT. And they are an easy install, after the dash is removed, just 2 bolts, and 2 nuts each and then remove the two hoses from inside the engine bay (which can be a pain). In any case, this is a job that you can easily do yourself.

Ok, why not cut the bullshit, infinkc wants to know how to get the ac in his car. If you know how to do this please post that info, it would help others also, however if you are just guessing and throwing out possiblities and maybes that is no help. As for the professional/shop estimate of $2k-$2.5k, rather than say you don't believe it, why don't you call your local ac specialist and ask them, then you can post facts backed by figures. The fact that you can remove it in 15 minutes has absolutely nothing to do with how much it would cost to put it back . infinkc, I apologize for jumping in on your post, but I to would like to see someone post some "how to" info on this ac job.

Are you ******* kidding me? Do you know how HT works? Someone offers what they know, then others chime in and add what they forgot. I never claimed to know anything.
And don't get insulted or take it personally that your $2000, $2500 quote is a rip off. I didn't mean to hurt you. Your shop just saw an opportunity to quote high to an unknowing customer and took it. Regardless, you shouldn't take your car there.
Also, if you're looking for a how to on installing ac, search EG+ Archived Content, I would, but search is down right now.

Ok litterbox, I am not hurt, thank you for your concern. Since I do not know how to install an ac this will be my last post on this subject. I am just wondering if you ever got a professional/ shop qoute? Maybe 2-2.5K sounds high and I agree its sure as hell alot of money, but I got the same quote from two shops.
