Thinking about getting an R
But, I am really hesitant due to theft.
Convince me my R wont get jacked.
I was recently quoted by Geico that an 06 Si was more expensive to insure than an ITR
Si (1,462 for 6 months)
ITR (1,389 for 6 months)
I am getting one of these two cars and I want the R way more than the new Si, but insurance and low life thieves were the only 2 factors against me not getting the R. Now that insurance is out of the way, I only have 1 thing left to worry about.....

Theft is still an issue.
The difference in insurance is due to the car being older and less expensive to either replace or settle as a total loss. Most likely settle as a total loss.

if you're worried about theft and if you don't want to have nightmares of getting your R jacked, don't get it.

Quoted for truth.

Get the R but make sure your full coverage insurance is always up to date. Pay the payment ahead of time too.
Insurance is very very very important for our cars.

i was going to say it all depends on where you live, but i see you live in jersey.
i was messing around on esurance and one of the big questions was whether or not the car was used to commute to NY/NJ.
in my area, you can leave your car running with the windows down, run into a friend's house and be not have to worry about your car getting jacked

This is what's holding me back from getting one now. Once I pay off my DD, and have my own tight garage, I'll get an R. I just feel I owe it to automotive history to do my best to keep heR safe.
Even if that means putting off getting one for awhile.

Yes you should have full insurance, but insurance will only cover you financially. Every R stolen is another one scratched off the already short list. Just in the past few days another one was stolen and stripped.
If you can keep her safe (layers of security) and she won't be a DD, then get the R and enjoy it. Even then, there's no way anyone can convince you she won't get stolen, especially in Jersey.
Si!!

I'd go with the R. I'm friends with a couple of people who instruct at autocross schools, i went out to help them set up a course one day after they just finished driving an 06 Si ont he school course, they took my R out on it and said hands down the R was more fun to drive, both cars were stock, and the R was considerably faster.

Not that your car WILL get jacked but there is a strong possibility....

In response to your concerns of theft:
I would suggest buying the Si. If it were to get stolen at least you will be able to replace it with a new one.
Finding a well cared for used ITR is hard to come by and if it gets stolen it will be hard to find another good one.
A new car has warranty and you're the first owner to use the vehicle.
If I were to pick up a car new car with the same intentions (road race, autox, honda powered, sports coupe) as I did when I bought my ITR new in 2001 I would get an 2006 Si.
Good luck.

your R will get jacked sooner or later...and if you dont the guy you sold it to you will tell you it got stolen, or it has dirty title cause it has already been stolen... finding a clean title r that hasnt been wrecked, stolen or tinkered with too much is like napolean dynamite dating eva longoria... theres a chance but it aint big lol
