You can only do it with a smiley tig. You push the Ceramic button and away you go.

I just learned how to do this yesterday, so I guess I'm ready to start a business selling ceramic turbo manifolds. $424.99 for a ramhorn. pm for details.

We need to stop this Cermamic stuff before he see's this thread.

Anyway seriously Mild steel is the easiest and cheapest to work with. And you can just use a good heat paint if you dont want to spend $150 on coating. And I use mild steel on my race car stuff .Because if your out somewhere and it cracks or you need to change something .Someone is going to have a set of torches near by that you can weld them with. With stainless your screwed unless you have a heli-arc

ok so next question. what is the best type of welder to use on this

im going to be designing the manifold and this dude i work with has been welding for like 25 years, and has done a bunch of V8 stuff, rock crawlers and ish like that.

i wanna have him there to spot weld, and then finish the job.

- 'spot welded' with stainless wire
- grind down tacks with a dremel + fiber cutting blade (black ones)
- have someone with experience tig weld it

That's how my unskilled-in-tig-welding-cheapass got it done..

..and aluminum foil and hose clamps for backpurging.

Titanium is crap for headers...

Inconel is where its at a step above that would be carbon tubing.

Why are you looking for the best of the best anyway?
