I dont know what they are worth, but thats what was used at the school i went to. They are actually good machines, people are always snatching them up really quickly when the school replaces them with newer ones and auctions them off.

I think its this machine :http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o340d_mil.pdf

My question is how hard are parts to get if something craps out?

He wants $700 which appears expensive. I dont need the torch cooler bc i dont see myself welding that much continuously

The parts should be very easy to get and those are some very reliable machines and they also weld great. These are easy machines to weld aluminum with great for things like intercoolers and charge tubes. A little tougher to weld castings with then the newer machines out there. I would base my decision on what I was going to weld. If you need the extra capacity then I would go with the miller if not then I would go with a prowave185. IF you could get the package for 1000-1200 it's a good buy. Just make sure everything works with the HF start and continuous
circuit and the the foot pedal controls the amperage correctly.

Wow, you really think its worth that much ?
The hard part has been justifying saving $500 and risking not finding spare parts or leaving a lot of capability on the table.

I just picked one up for aluminum work for 400 with cooler and cart and 288cf private bottle . They are built to last and you can do heavy work if you need to. I see them sell all the time for 500-1300 dollars. So 700 is fair.

Its a miller 330a/bp right?

One thing to watch on those old, big machines is the input current requirement. Many like the 330a/bp are over 150A 1ph 240, and a lot of them are for 3ph. Make sure you can plug what you're buying into the wall without causing a fire, or needing expensive upgrades to your house/shop's service.

Can anyone say anything about this topic and the machine?

The only thing you'll be able to run at 40A is a sub 200A inverter machine, TA185, Miller Dynasty 200, the smaller HTP, etc.
