Default Tranny Mount Question

I just recently bought me an 89 hatch at a pretty good price, but my tranny mount was cracked and the bolts stripped out the threads on the tranny. I've been thinking about rethreading the holes since I have a new mount already, but was wondering if it was possible to do so without ripping apart hella stuff. Im just not sure if I can fit the tap and die set down there. Has anyone else had this problem? HEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!

Thanks
