Default Coolant leak/overheating issue...

Ya my '94 VTec model is having a lil problem. The coolant seems to be right over the front crossmember. The reservior is full but the radiator isn't. I'm thinking the thermostat might be stuck closed. What you guys think?

could be thermostat,
could be as simple as air in system
could be blockage in radiator

what do you mean "coolant is right over front crossmember" - like you visibly see coolant all over the show?

you can tell if your thermostat is working, just run the car for a while - atleast til the fans kick on, keep feeling the lower rad hose that leaves the thermostat housing - if that hose gets hot/warm - (over time) your thermostat is working,... if you run your car for a while, and it stays cold, chances are the thermostat is stuck closed.

i'd check all the hoses, and the rad for a hairline crack, if you don't find anything wrong there - i'd top off the rad, run it for a while (while continuing to top it off, cuz it usually gurgles some back), then put the cap back on, then bleed the system (via the bleed screw on thermostat housing - just bleed it till no bubbles come out) then when the systems cooled (or if you have a pressure releasing cap.. be sure to release pressure) do one last top off of the rad - it usually doesn't need it after bleeding - but it depends how much bleeds - i guess (;. finally if the leak appears to be coming from around the cap - you could invest in a new one of those... I recently had a prob with bubbling overflow reservoir - and it ended up being my rad-cap - was f'n weird.

good luck.. coolant issues are a bitch - especially if you have two dogs around like i do.
