ok. today i noticed my boot on my outer cv joint ripped. so i took it out just like a min ago and i noticed that is different. by that i mean that there is no retaining ring for the bearings like this inplies. i cant seem to fing that litle ring that the book tells me to get out


now. i got a pic of the axle im trying to take appart to show u guys what i mean.





as u can see, the cv axle doasent have a ring like tha book sais it does. btw the book is a chilton civic 88-91. i hope anybody know whats going on.

 

Just to make sure....you're looking for the little bendy wire ring, not the huge metal bearing in the pic.....right?

It should be tucked into the very inner part of the boot....at the very edge. I guess it's possible it flew out after the boot tore....??


I fixed an axle once, and the second time around got so fed up with all the mess that I just pussied out and bought a new one.....and haven't looked back
