I just failed smog today. The only mods i have is a DC 4-1 header. I did not have this header on 2 years ago when i passed. My results are:


15 mph: fail

HC(PPM) max= 90 me=161 <--fail

CO max=.54 me=.80

NO(PPM) max=711 me= 1882 <--fail

25 mph: pass

The guy said he thinks its the exhaust system. I dont want to pay 135 for a diagnose. Can anyone help me please?

Could also be due to a bad cat or O2 sensor(s)...any code b4 going?

 

you should pass with a header. i would say its a bad cat or your o2 sencor needs replacing.

 

chit..i passed with my 94 gsr w/ 185k miles; i/h/e/ctr cams/cam gears/skunk2 IM... you should have no problem passing with that header. When was your last tune up? spark plugs, cap & rotor, oil change, etc? It could also be that your cat converter has taken a chit on you... or exhaust leaks. Dont know..just throwing ideas out there.

 

YEah I jsut did a tune up. I think its the header too. just got new one wish me luck!
