A few problems I encountered, that no one knows how to fix...
Hi. My names Tyler. This is my first post. I hear LOTS of good things about this site and was directed here to get some answers on some of my cars problems. I will explain these in a nutshell, then, in detail. So here goes.
(I drive a 1996 SI swapped to h22a manual tranny (f-series) Prelude.
1. Climate control issues
2. Power mirror issues
3. Power window issues
4. Rev Limit issues
5. Oil leak issues
6. Gauge lighting issues

8. Braking softness issues
1. Climate control.
My climate control is basically non-functional. Changing where its coming out, how hot it is, ect is not an option. My car puts out CONSTANT blistering hot heat. Only thing I can change is how much comes out. Currently, its set to feet (which doesnt matter, it comes out every one of them equally), and recirculate (which im not sure if that works) and cold air (which is pointless, its as hot as possible). Are there common issues with this? How can i fix it?
2. Power Mirrors.
Simply, do not work. I checked EVERY fuse on my car the past few days to hope to cure multiple problems, no dice. Neither side works, so im lead to believe its not just a motor.
3. Power Windows
Passenger window is slow to roll up. Im guessing a motor issue, but, a replacement motor is how much?
4. Rev Limiting.
Heres one with a story.
The car when i got it had bogging issues. The secondary valves wernt opening all the way, not getting its full potential and bogging. I bought a skunk2 manifold, put it on, and everything worked fine. Minus a high idle. And I mean like, 2.5k rpm. I test drove it, it worked great, minus the idle of corse. Then, on more extensive driving the computer started going into limp mode. To go anywhere, you had to BEARLY press on the pedal. Any more then a feather on it would make it bog to about 400rpm and not do ****. Baffled, I contacted my honda buddys. We burnt a new chip for my p06 (converted to p28), and it worked fine again. No bogging, No limping, nothing. Til, at least; more driving. Now (where my car stands now) there is a limit of 6k rpm after it runs for a few minutes. VTEC engages at 5000 like normal, but bounces off a limiter at 6k. I've swapped p13's (which ran like ****), p30's (which ran like even more ****) and so on into my car, and had no limiter problems, just, bogging problems. But; thats expected with a computer from a del sol and such. Anyways, last night, for ***** and giggles i put in my old eprom with my old bin on it to see if it ran any different. It actually ran worse then it did before. 4k limit, and bogging all the way to 4k. no problem romping it and it going to 400 rpm, but, took a while to get to 4k rpm since it was bogging. i then put in the newer bin eprom when i got home, and it ran like it does now. 6k rpm limit, everything else normal. Some friends believe it to be a ECU problem, and say I need a p28. Im looking for one, but seeing as those arent as common as as i'd like them to be, it'll take a while im sure.
5. Oil leak.
It looks as if im leaking oil from my valve cover oil cap, but, im not sure. There is oil surrounding it, and, spreading down to my spark plug area. Thus why I was lead to believe the valve cover. But, then on my garage floor last night I see this:

(sorry its blurry, god im a ******* noob sometimes; I already cleaned the mess, otherwise i'd take another.)
Now, this was from a couple of times pulling in, describing the many lines, but, I've never seen oil leak in a line, and my floor is pretty balanced. I had advances auto order me a valve cover gasket, should be here in a couple days, we'll see if that fixes the problem.
6. Gauge lighting.
My dimmer on my spedo cluster is non working. Its on a dim setting, annoying since it doesnt match the others when at full brightness. I think there might be a hot wire from the battery going to it. Its a swapped cluster. From a 92 93 predlude into my 96. i should probably contact the previous owner, but, he seems to not like to talk to me anymore since im finding out all these problems wrong with the car he never told me when he sold it to me. go figure.
7. Brake noise.
Both breaks squeek while driving, and stop when braking. Heh. Its normally the other way around. Im guessing the dude put shitty brake pads on, but once again, he wont get in contact with me. This happens after about 10 minutes of driving. Just enough time to warm up. Today, im bored, I think i'll take off the dust shields and check them out.
8. Brake softness.
Sometimes, I noticed, the brake goes ALL the way to the floor before the car really wants to stop. happened first on the race track, after my run i was freking out because I was not braking. I would say out of 30 minutes of driving, theres at least one time where it goes limp like that.

and as for your power window rolling up slow i say just take off your door panel and spray some silicone lubricant on the track and see what that does.

That was another thing I wanted to do. My door speakers are blown. I didnt know how to take the door panal off. I didnt know if you could replace the speaker without removing the whole panal or not.
Is there a write up on door removing?
Also: There was something my friend was saying about the JDM cluster being digital and letting you set the temp. That sounds nice. where can i find one?

It's very common and you have to solder a few connection inside the unit. See the link that snowblind7x posted

Take out the center console and the door panels (might as well since it seems like you have a lot of issues to look at here
) and check the wiring from the mirror switch to the mirrors. Should be able to see somethingif it's not a fuse. Otherwise the problem is probably in the mirrors themselves...

I think slow windows are normal for Preludes.

Sounds like you need to get the right ECU and go from there...

Alos pretty common to have a little oil seaping from the cap and various gaskets. You can get new gaskets and use Hondabond or RTV sealant and that will help.

I don't know on that one, but the guy probably just f'ed up the wiring on the swap. Probably have to do some research...

Get some new brake pads and install them yourself the right way.

Probably the master cylinder going out.
That's just my advice to you.

That's just my advice to you.
Sounds like your brake problems might also be related to a seized caliper that is not retracting properly...
92 and 93 ludes had standard gauges, 96 had EL gauges. I believe the dimmer works differently on both. If you do not have the dimmer from a 92 or 93 then that might explain your problem.
