got some steel from work that was just gonna get scrapped and i needed a welding bench. keep in mind i have absolutley no welding experince at all.

It'll suit it's purpose just nicely, although you may find that you'll want a larger tank in the future and then your tank bracket will be too high. Other than that nice job and start practicing.

not bashing, but dont expect to sell anyone manifolds with an attitude or a machine like that.

Oh my god, not another liberal ****** that believes that because he overpayed for his Miller or Lincoln Tig he needs to unscrupulously bash on someone else for wanting to make manifolds. Weird how I passed all my welding certifications using my chinese tig, hmm... must mean it had nothing to do with the welder? I hate people like you homo. ban me you bitch.

actually im sure that would make me more conservative, and yeah you may pass a "test" or a "cert" but i bet you i could do the same with an oxy setup that you can do with your chinese. does that mean ill go weld up a customers part with oxy, no. it is not professional, and theres no way on earth you could make a competant arguement to any decent welder that your welder is better than a miller.

Nothing wrong with the smiley. And you have the same MIG welder I have. People around here just get ate up if you don't have a $6000 welder to make $300 manifolds.

didnt say anything was wrong, but its not as good as a syncro 200 or something. and i would expect to sell manifolds with it. you might, but i wouldnt expect to. also your welds might be decent but youll get nowhere near what you would with a better machine.

like the saying say. you get what you pay for. sorry but it's true.

after owning a smiley and you all know what i did with it, and now owning a 180sd and soon to be a thermal arc 185stw

i will certainly say compared to a better machine the smiley is in fact a piece of ****,

but that doesnt mean it doesnt work

if you have no welding experience or knowlege, dont think, just read and listen to others.

cheap tigs work but theyre not good machines.

 

whoa whoa whoa back up for a minute. when did i ever say i was gonna sell manifolds all i said was that i wanted to build them, i could care less what you have to say about the smiley unit yeah its prolly a very good starter tig and also comes with a plasma cutter too. Maybe one day when i hit the lottery or have a couple grand laying around i will get a nice miller but until then the smiley will work just fine for me. And plus im only paying 483.00 Shipped to my door. Can't beat that
