S2000 Owners
Hey guys pretty sure I couldnt find a topic like this. Anyway I am looking for a s2000 I currently drive a Prelude SH. Its a wonderful car however. I would like to have a RWD that I can build on. The Prelude is still stock. So i was wondering how much money do you think I should put aside. Also whats a good mileage to buy it at since I probably will be getting it used. I would like to get the 2.2 that is after 2002. correct thank you guys for any help.
The 2.2 is after 2003... Obviously the lower the miles the better, but i think you should be a good judge of character when purchasing a used car from a private party. If the previous owner takes you for a ride reving to 8k excessively, it means he most likely didnt care for the car... Sometimes the way a person talks about the car is also a good giveaway. Id rather buy a high mileaged car that i know has been on the highway for the majority of the time then a car that has 30K miles of nonstop beatings...

Just beccause someone says that most of the miles are highway miles doesn't mean the car was never "beat" on.
The damn S2000 was built for exhilirating driving. So what if someone ran it hard a couple times?
If you come across one with higher mileage what you should be asking are questions about the maintenance. How often did the change the oil? rear diff. fluid? brake fluid? Did they use OE Honda products? etc..etc...etc...
Buying a used car is always tricky, no matter what make/model you're after.

look at the condition of the car, if the leather on the seats looks like the person never put any products on it then they probably didnt take care of other details...look at the front bumper, paint chips are normal for this low car, butif there are excessive rock chips on the front end u know it saw some higher speeds....but this doesnt mean walk away because this car was built to drive that way, but its buyer beware.
check the oil too, if the guy just changed the oil and its black already then theres some sludge build up in there...make sure the carpets arent ripped either, they can be cleaned but rips are another issue...
the only difference between the 2.2 and the 2.0 are the internals of the engine so dont be afraid to get an earlier model, i dont like buying a first year model tho...someone posted on here they were about to hit200k with no issues on the s so dont let 60k on a car scare u...just find a price u can afford and a milage u can live with.
