World Challenge Infineon update
Brief update. We did pretty good at 1st practice and posted 12th fastest. But at the end of practice the motor blew. Just got home from swapping the engine and missed 2nd practice. Still in top 15, but a little dissapointed since I think I can cut more time if I have more seat time. First time running NASCAR chute.
Big shout out and thanks to STaSIS. They let us use their shop to do the engine swap.

Andrie,
Paul Lambert and his select crew at Stasis are awesome. They are professional and very helpful. Wish I were there to have a beer with Paul and talk shop.
Good luck Andrie and say hi to Charlie and Jimmy for me.

The weekend started great. With the car handling well and making good power. The engine was tested before during testing for a weekend and performed flawlessly. This netted me 12th fastest in first practice. I know I still have about 1 second left, as I was still being cautious and just take it easy through NASCAR Chute.
Unfortunately things started to go downhill from there. We blew the motor in conclusion of 1st practice. STaSIS was very generous in letting us use their shop to swap the engine. However, we still didn't make 2nd practice.
In Qualifying things didn't go my way either. I did a warm up lap and about to do my first hotlap, when suddenly I lost throttle going into turn 2. I coasted and had to be towed to the pit. We found out when we did the engine we forgot to tighten the throttle cable and it worked itself loose.
Started from dead last for the race, I was working my way up. 1/3rd through the race I noticed some funky vibration and weird handling. Had to dialed it back a little. Then the problem went away after a few lap, only to come back a few laps later. Finally, on the 1 before last lap, I broke the axle. Coasted to the pit and didn't finish the race.
There are lots more story to be told, but it will have to wait until the update on my website.
Special thanks to Ken Yeh (Rcrew Racing), John Thawley, Sam Rothschild, Dennis Caco, and everyone who came by to support us!

That sucks Andrie. Sounds like if the mechanicals had held together, you might have been in the running for a top 10 this weekend. Good luck getting the car back together. Did the engine blow on a downshift mistake or pure mechanical failure? It's amazing how often people blow up those K20's.
IF the mechanicals held together, Top 7 is within sight, and top 5 is outside probability.
This time it is definitely not a mis-shift. We don't know exactly what causes it. We'll have to take a close look at the data and analyze all the failed hardware closely.

If the Focus website http://www.focaljet.com can do a one race deal with a World Challenge Car.

More people that take pride in supporting an effort like that?

The car looked really good out there Andrie, too bad you had some mechanicals. We assumed that the in the race that you broke an axle. We "redstone" were all up in turn 8-9 cheering you on in the superhot sun, but it was definitly worth it. Good luck at the next race, we'll be there again for sure !!
yes, why not? Honda Tech has more than 191,000 member. If each one of them just come up with $1.00 it might be just enough to run a full season of World Challenge under Honda-Tech team!
I know I need help and not embarrased to ask for one. If anyone willing to help, they are welcome to visit my site and donate through there.
IF we can organzie something bigger through Honda-Tech, we can possibly run the team as Honda-Tech team.
I know last weekend it was possible to break into top 10 and probable to break into top 5. The only difference why we didn't end up there is budget.

yup, just like bimmerworld. they have bimmerforums.com supporting them.
Just like to put in my thoughts and opinion. I like to thank everyone who came by the trailer and supported us through the weekend (the guys from Redstone and Red Zone). Also big thanks to John thawley, Dennis Caco, and Sam rothchild for making the big trip from southern cali to come support us.
With some good times on Saturday's morning practice I knew we could keep up but then the engine let go. Big thanks to STaSIS for letting us use their garage and thanks to the team and Ken from R-Crew for coming out and helping us get the other engine in.
IMO, this weekend was fun. It's great to go out there and have fun with the pro's. Just the experience is amazing. Without a doubt, I believe Andrie and the rest of Prima racing could run in the top 10 with the big guys. It's only a matter of time and patience.

Obviously, if we would enjoy the support of Honda-Tech it will require the involvement of upper management level. Just a few gibberish from several members will not make it happen, although might help the cause.
I'm hoping the management might read this post and might be interested in organizing such fund raising. I know we need depserate help especially after loosing one engine, and experiencing some problem with the spare engine.

I wanted to but we didn't feel it was worth the day trip without alms customers being present as well.

cause the focus usually needs a miracle to win and Honda-Tech guys are too busy looking at ****.
but seriously... i'd give a dollar to the car. I'd give $200 if i got to drive it

Sorry to hear about the problems.
Good luck getting it fixed and hope you do better at Miller Motorsport Park next month.

Thats Andrie's secret aero brake/spoiler that deploys in braking zones and then mysteriously retracts. Helps keep the brakes from overheating. Ferrari F1 movable aerodynamics - err flexible wing element gaps - has nothing on Andrie.
